During the lockdown 1.0 all LCTS services had to be cancelled due to the risk of coronavirus transmission.
We took the decision to use LCTS resources to the benefit of the local community in our Response to Covid.
Our volunteers and staff completely transformed the Shopping Bus Service for “passengers” who had no support for their shopping needs – online services are impersonal and just not an option for many people.
We developed the Shop & Drop Service incorporating vital social interaction on phone collecting shopping lists, and in-person during Covid-safe delivery of shopping.
We made our fleet freely available to the wider community and have been supporting several food banks since May with thousands and thousands of food parcels for people experiencing financial hardship as a result of the pandemic.
This has developed into the LCTS Transport & Community Recovery Programme incorporating:
Covid-safe transport for our returning shopping bus passengers
Maintaining the Shop & Drop Service
Continuing to support the food banks and
Striving to ensure LCTS are “open”
When our community of members feel safe to start using our vital transport services again LCTS will be there to help.
